At Studio 28, starting at 7:00 PM, join a lecture and conversation from a series tracing the key milestones in the development of film avant-garde—from early avant-garde movements and postwar underground cinema to the Yugoslav alternative cine-club tradition, expanded cinema, and contemporary audiovisual works. This edition focuses on the experimental films of Maya Deren, presented by film scholar and media theorist Dr. Ivana Kronja. The program opens up themes such as the materiality of film stock, structuralism, the politics of form, and shifting boundaries of perception, with room for screenings and audience discussion.
