Gallery Stara Kapetanija, Tuesday, July 21, 2026 – Opening of the Exhibition ‘Growing Up Diary’ by Lejla Slezović Nikšić

The Stara Kapetanija art gallery in Zemun becomes a meeting point with the expressive world of childhood at the opening of the solo exhibition ‘Growing Up Diary’ by artist Lejla Slezović Nikšić. These paintings, created with acrylic and oil on canvas, are arranged into four segments – ‘Masks’, ‘Heroes’, ‘Portraits’, and ‘Hands’. Visitors will have the opportunity to follow the transformation of a boy, the main character, through play, disguise, and adopting the identities of popular heroes from comics and films through dynamic compositions. The exhibition carefully explores the impact of modern society and popular culture on growing up, highlighting emotions such as surprise, sadness, power, strength, and fear. The opening of the exhibition is a perfect opportunity to experience first-hand an artistic take on childhood and societal values, with expert guidance from curator Dr. Zorica Nikić. The exhibition remains open until August 2, but the opening is a special experience for all art lovers.
