A self-portrait is more than just an artist’s face. On the guided tour “Me in the Third Person – Artists’ Self-Portraits,” you’ll move through three current exhibitions and explore how identity is shaped through the figure, space, objects, and the gaze. The tour brings together “Turning Points Toward Modernity: Art of the Society 1900–1945,” “ŽARKO BAŠESKI: CORPOREALITY,” and “Predrag Nešković: Earth – Air,” opening up different historical and artistic contexts of self-representation along the way. Visitors will see how artists of the first half of the 20th century constructed their image through self-portraits, studios, and personal surroundings, while the works of Predrag Nešković and Žarko Bašeski introduce more contemporary perspectives: figures turned away from us, a gaze directed toward the world, and a withdrawn body carrying inner reflection. The exhibitions are led by museum associate and educator Katarina Kuč, and the conversation moves from how an artist sees themselves to how they wish to be remembered by the viewer.
