Opera & Theatre Madlenianum, October 13: Ballet Diptych “Carmen Suite” and “Bolero”

The new ballet season at Madlenianum’s Main Stage opens with a powerful diptych that brings two striking choreographic works together in one evening. “Carmen Suite” follows Carmen through passion, defiance, and the fate that keeps catching up with her, while “Bolero” builds rhythm and tension step by step toward an exhilarating full-stage climax. The choreography is by Aleksandar Ilić. In “Carmen Suite,” Gala Jovanović appears as Carmen, Aleksandr Polupanov as Don José, Toma Križnar as Escamillo, Nikola Bjanko as Zuniga, and Zara Purić as Fate. In “Bolero,” the soloists and choreographic collaborators are Jovana Grujić, Katarina Bućić, Vladimir Čubrilo, and Katarina Ilijašević, with students of the Institute for Artistic Dance also joining both performances on stage.
