Ostavinska, September 1: Opening of the exhibition “Instructions for Using a Woman”

On September 1 at 6:30 PM, Ostavinska Gallery opens Jovana Ivetić’s exhibition “Instructions for Using a Woman.” Through video, photography, graphic design, and text, the exhibition examines the pressures that shape women’s lives, with a special focus on the expectations and position of LGBTI women. Structured in chapters, it follows the path from childhood and the first imposed rules, through control over the body, behavior, and sexuality, to the everyday pressure to look a certain way, the punishment of anything that deviates from the norm, the tying of a woman’s value to her relationship status, and the push to the margins. This is an exhibition that invites visitors to look, read, and talk about identity, freedom, and the social rules we often take for granted.
