Božidarac Cultural Center, Saturday, September 19 – themed walk “Discover Vračar”

Explore Vračar on foot through stories that reveal the many layers of a neighborhood in transition, while still preserving traces of its cultural, historical, and architectural heritage. The walk is led by art historian Dr. Milan Prosen and takes you through topics such as the origins of the former Englezovac, the opening of the first McDonald’s in Eastern Europe at Slavija, the stories of the Temple of Saint Sava and the National Library of Serbia, as well as the significance of the Petaon and Kalenić Market for Vračar’s identity. The meeting point is in front of Božidarac, and the two-hour stroll combines city details, local history, and questions of heritage preservation under the pressure of contemporary urban development.
